Governor Whitmer has given the order that dental offices can re-open to see patients affectively May 29, 2020. We will receive our first orthodontic patients at Eagan Orthodontics on Monday, June 1, 2020. Thanks to all your combined efforts of social distancing, safe spacing, and sheltering in place, we have saved countless lives and are flattening the curve of the Covid-19 disease.
During this downtime we took the opportunity for additional deep cleanings of the office. As customary and usual practice for orthodontics our treatment chairs, treatment rooms, exam rooms, and instrument sterilization meet and exceed Michigan State requirements, American Dental Association, and American Orthodontic Association requirements for sterility and sanitizing procedures following each patient visit. You can expect the same meticulous care and sterilizing procedures will be maintained and exceeded.
However, some differences will be noted. The same smiling faces of the ladies at the front desk will still greet you warmly; but, from behind masks, our team will be wearing masks throughout the day as recommended by the CDC guidelines. We also ask that you wear a mask upon entering the facility until in an exam room or for treatment. There will also be a wellness station with hand sanitizer upon entering at which time a no-touch thermometer will take your temperature and we will verify you are well via some quick health questions. Continuous cleaning of surfaces throughout the day will occur as an extra precaution in addition to the nightly deep cleansing.
In an effort, to minimize the number of people in the office:
- We are requesting that when you arrive to the office that you call our new phone system and leave a message at option #0. The phone system will text you back and please text back and respond by stating you are outside. Then remain in your car until we either call or text you that we are prepared to receive the patient in the office.
- We are requesting only the patient enter the office and parents/siblings wait in the car.
- If the patient has a new patient consultation exam or is starting treatment that day, then one adult may accompany the patient.
You may call our office and we can have a team member let you know via text or phone call when your child's appointment is completed and answer any treatment questions.
In order to best achieve social distancing, every other orthodontic chair will be utilized in the clinic and many patients will be treated over in the general dental side.
Scheduling will also be spaced to avoid overlapping.
As always, your health and safety are of paramount importance.
- Patients are asked to wear a mask to the office and keep the mask on at all times except when having orthodontic treatment performed.
- Patients need to brush their teeth before arriving at the office. The brushing station is closed until further notice. Toothbrushing will not be allowed in the restrooms for sanitation reasons.
- A wellness Screening will be performed upon entry that will consist of taking the patient’s temperature and answering the following screening questions.
- If the patient's temperature is above 99.5° F or they answer yes to any of the screening questions below we will need to reschedule his/her appointment:
- Do you have any of the following:
- Cough
- Shortness of breath/Difficulty breathing
- Chills
- Muscle Pain
- Headache
- Sore throat or tightness in chest
- Loss of smell
- Contact with a person who has COVID-19
If the patient has any of the above symptoms please call our office and we will be happy to reschedule the appointment.
We look forward to taking great care of you as safely as possible.
We pray you and your families stay safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing you at your appointments!
